For The Love of Money ..

For The Love of Money ..

I haven't blogged for a while, most of my time outside of work and the joyous household duties we love so much has been taken up by reading and researching the power of positive thinking in order to make my life a much more wonderful place to be.

Not a new phenomena but something that is fast becoming a multi million dollar industry with self help books, email generated positivity based messages, and motivational quotes it is increasingly more talked about and practised by many.

But does it work?, Lets be honest a bit of positivity never hurt anyone did it.

In my quest for "the answer" I have come across books like The Secret, The Power, The Magic, E Squared etc ... while informative and motivational some of them require you to participate in exercises to reaffirm your belief that the Universe will provide. For example The Magic requires you to perform little daily tasks over about a month from memory adding a task per day, this lost my interest by day five as performing all these tasks and holding down a full time job ... yeah just wasn't going to happen!

E Squared, again motivational but more tasks! I also completed a few of these and yes they made me more aware but where do people find the time to count butterflies and certain coloured cars, have positive conversations with seedlings, make divining rods out of coat hangers and all the writing of lists and goals and things to give thanks for ... phew!!

So how does it all work, well my understanding of it is - and this is a completely basic breakdown: what you put out into the Universe, your thoughts and your actions be it positive or negative is what you attract back i.e positive attracts positive, negative attracts negative a basic mathematical equation. This includes your subconscious thoughts as well as your conscious thoughts making the real trick to have power over your subconscious and training your brain not to wander off into the old preconditioned ways of thinking we generally revert back to, unless of course you have had the great fortune of being raised by parents that have always embraced this way of thinking in which case you will already be living a most successful life and working as a motivational speaker. This makes sense to me, so yes I am a believer ... or am I?

Because some of the things I have put out into the Universe in a positive manner haven't had the ideal positive results I was hoping for, am I just doing it wrong?

When a positive thought attracts a negative result what does this mean?

According to the books it’s because you need to learn a life lesson or its a bump in the road needed to veer you away from your current path for the greater good. Some of us out there certainly need to learn a lot of life lessons that's all I can say about that.

I am not knocking the theory I fully subscribe to it even though I don't fully understand it. I guess you just take from it what you will, I have my motivational board which in the past I have found great .. it's not performing to it's full potential at the moment but we live in hope (every Saturday when The Lott rolls around).

I also subscribe to Notes from The Universe by Mike Dooley and I have to say I really love these, morning emails with great little positive messages for the day,  The Secret Scrolls from Rhonda Byrne, Pam Grout's motivational blogs .... if you are reading positive you are thinking positive right!?
